About PFLAG Attleboro
We are the Attleboro area chapter of PFLAG, formerly known as Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. We provide support, education and advocacy for parents, families, friends and allies of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people in Attleboro and the surrounding communities.
PFLAG National began in 1972 when a mother of an "out" gay man decided that there needed to be support systems in place for loved ones of LGBTQ+ individuals. Eventually the organization spread throughout the nation in order to help support more families.
PFLAG of Attleboro wants to bring that support to our local community.
PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming persons, their families and friends and allies through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
