About PFLAG Cedar Rapids

Founded in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation’s largest family and ally organization. Our local chapter, PFLAG Cedar Rapids, started meeting in the Fall of 2010 and was officially accepted as a chapter of PFLAG National in the Fall of 2011. Since then we have seen many changes in the landscape of equality and acceptance. We collaborate locally and have been instrumental in the onset of the local LGBTQIA+ resource coalition.

We advocate at the state, local and federal level for full legal equality for the LGBTQ and their families so that all people can work, study, play, pray and live safely and happily. Our local chapters provide local support groups, education and advocacy.
