PFLAG Sauk Valley

PFLAG Sauk Valley is a peer-to-peer support and advocacy organization serving LGBTQIA individuals, families, and allies throughout Sterling, IL and the surrounding Sauk Valley region, including Ogle, Lee, and Whiteside counties. As a local chapter of PFLAG National—part of a network of more than 400 chapters nationwide—the organization provides comprehensive resources and educational programming designed to address the unique needs of LGBTQ people and those who love them.

The organization delivers multiple core services including peer-to-peer support groups, community education initiatives, and policy advocacy work aimed at creating inclusive environments. Established in 2006 by Barb and George Schwamberger and Jane Biddle, the organization operates through dedicated volunteer leadership and monthly board meetings. PFLAG Sauk Valley welcomes LGBTQIA persons, families, friends, and allies of all backgrounds. The organization's mission centers on building loving families united with LGBTQ people and allies, educating communities, and advocating until all hearts and minds respect, value, and affirm LGBTQ+ people.
