About UT Austin Pride Policy Alliance
The Pride Policy Alliance at the University of Texas Austin is an inclusive LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual +) student organization dedicated to advancing equality through policy advocacy and community engagement. Based at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, one of the nation's premier public policy schools, the organization leverages the university's unique position within Austin's innovative community and proximity to the Texas State Capitol to drive meaningful policy change.
The Pride Policy Alliance focuses on increasing the visibility of LGBTQIA+ issues within the LBJ School of Public Affairs while simultaneously advocating for policies that advance equality across the university and throughout the greater Austin community. The organization creates programming and initiatives designed to educate students and faculty about policy challenges facing the queer community, foster substantive discussions on contemporary LGBTQIA+ policy issues, and build coalitions with other student organizations and university departments.
While specifically serving the LGBTQIA+ community, the Pride Policy Alliance maintains an inclusive approach and welcomes all students interested in LGBTQIA+ policy and advocacy. Members benefit from connections with nationally recognized scholars at the LBJ School who specialize in policy analysis, research, and advocacy strategies. The organization is part of the UT Austin Gender and Sexuality Center Affiliate Program, providing members with additional resources and support networks.
As a registered student organization at the LBJ School, the Pride Policy Alliance provides graduate and professional students with opportunities to engage in justice-related research, service, and political advocacy. Through events, discussions, and collaborative initiatives, the organization equips emerging policy leaders with the knowledge and networks necessary to advance LGBTQIA+ equality in government, nonprofits, and the private sector.
